The very first thing Democrats did when they took over the House was introduce the “For the People Act,” which is about fair elections and getting money out of politics. Nearly every Democrat in the House co-sponsored it, which requires automatic voter registration, independent redistricting commissions (to get rid of Gerrymandering), forces donors to declare who they are, prevents members of congress from sitting on corporate boards, and bans states’ chief election officers from political activities. It also calls for overturning Citizens United and restoring and modernizing the Voting Rights Act.
Most of this is just simple fairness and common sense, so, of course, it’ll be DOA in the Republican Senate. Will the media and my friends on the socialist left please stop pretending there’s not a huge difference in which party is more corrupt?
