Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had a rough couple interviews where she jumbled facts about the budget and even the U.S. population, so conservatives have been mocking her relentlessly in articles like Charles Cooke’s in The National Review: “The Unserious Face of an Unserious Movement.

Excuse me, Republicans, do you know who your party is? The one that thinks tax cuts on the rich magically pay for themselves? Then the CBO comes out and says, “No, they don’t, you’re not serious and you’ve added trillions to the deficit?”

Why are liberals the only ones ever expected to pay for anything? Why do they hold a 28-year-old running to be a very junior member of Congress to a higher standard on policy specifics than their own president, speaker, and majority leader?
