We know that, for at least two years in the 70s, Donald Trump paid a Federal income tax rate of zero. That’s pretty low. I’d like to see his recent tax returns, but I’ll bet he toughs it out and doesn’t release them. And he’s already bragged to ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that he fights “very hard to pay as little tax as possible… One of the reasons is because the government takes your money and wastes it in the Middle East and all over the place.”
So you see, he can’t lose (with his supporters) on the tax issue. He’ll either withhold the returns, or release them and make tax dodging a virtue. Like gaffes, sex scandals and fund-raising, it’s another campaign-killing disease to which he’s immune.
