NBC just announced that Arnold Schwarzenegger is replacing Donald Trump on The Celebrity Apprentice. What’s interesting about this to me goes back to Schwarzenegger’s announcement to run for governor on The Tonight Show back in 2003. He said he had to save California because Gray Davis was a terrible failure, and that he couldn’t be bought because he had his own money.
What did we learn from Schwarzenegger’s reign as governor of California? That an entertainer who’s an “outsider” becomes an “insider” the second he takes office. He didn’t really change much. But the “career politician insider” who followed him, Jerry Brown, changed a lot.
