Afghanistan is a landlocked country, but that didn’t stop America from buying them $3 million worth of patrol boats. The boats – they’re big cool rubber things like Navy Seals use in Tom Berenger movies – retail for about $50 grand, so naturally we paid $375,000 each. Sounds kind of dumb, right? Oh, and we bought them in 2010 and they’re still sitting in storage in Virginia.
It’s hard not to sound like a broken record of hippie music about this crap, and I know it’s not really serious government waste – like school lunches – but doesn’t anyone in the Pentagon ever get fired?
