It turns out that Ben Carson is as stupid as every other conservative hero.
Last week, Dr. Ben was on Sean Hannity's program (Sean being the chief sponsor of the Draft Ben Carson for President movement), and he blurted out a bunch of stupid shit about gay marriage and had to apologize.
Here's what he said:
Marriage is between a man and a woman...No group, be they gays, be they NAMBLA, be they people who believe in bestiality, it doesn't matter what they are. They don't get to change the definition.
Remember, this is the Great Black Hope of the GOP, and here he is repeating the hoariest and lamest talking point ever: the comparing-gays-to-NAMBLA-and-bestiality gambit. It really does put the lie to the notion that Republicans want a new direction, doesn't it? They want to hear the same exact nonsense, just out of different mouths.
Now it's no surprise to me that Dr. Ben's an idiot. What is surprising is that Johns Hopkins had asked him to be their commencement speaker this year. What, was Joe the Plumber busy? Students and faculty launched a big protest against Dr. Ben speaking, and yesterday he bowed out -- but why did they pick this buffoon in the first place? Wouldn't the students rather hear from Dr. Oz? Or the guy who plays "House?"
Actually, I kind of like that Dr. Ben is both an amazingly talented neurosurgeon and a drooling moron. Because people need to be reminded that doctors (and other "professionals" like lawyers) can be just as stupid as everybody else.
